Hear about the Whirlpool Corporation ongoing commitment to social responsibility and how it impacts your customers and your business.
Giving Back One Community at a Time
Our founders felt a strong sense of responsibility to the community. And while Whirlpool Corporation has grown from a family-owned business to a global company, that commitment has shaped the Whirlpool Corporation culture and philosophy to this day. We continue to maintain a strong connection between our brands and select charitable organizations that make a positive impact in our local communities. Since 2009, more than $75 million in cash and in-kind donations have been made to U.S.-based nonprofit organizations.
Not Just the Right Thing
Not only is it the right thing to do, it’s what your customers are looking for. Eighty-two percent of consumers consider corporate social responsibility when they decide where to shop and what to buy, according to a Cone Communications Social Impact Study. When you do business with Whirlpool Corporation, you're choosing a socially responsible company with a culture that resonates with your customers.
Our Signature Charities
Habitat for Humanity
In the past 16 years of cooperative efforts with Habitat for Humanity, Whirlpool brand has contributed nearly $85 million in products to help new houses feel more like home. That equates to more than 160,000 ranges and energy-efficient refrigerators that serve as the heartbeat of the home. These numbers continue to grow, demonstrating our commitment and desire to make a difference in the world in which we do business.
Boys and Girls Clubs of America
In 2010, Maytag brand teamed up with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) as a commitment to youth and communities. The partnership seeks to recognize and promote dependability—a core quality for both organizations that should always be recognized. From this partnership, the Maytag Dependable Leader Awards were created. These awards support the Clubs helping young people succeed for life. To date, Maytag brand has donated more than $5.5 million to help enable young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Cook for the Cure
Cook for the Cure®, supported by KitchenAid brand since 2001, was created to give passionate cooks a way to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Through donation-with-purchase programs, special fundraising events, auctions and grassroots initiatives, the Cook for the Cure program has raised more than $10 million globally to support the fight against breast cancer. KitchenAid also supports breast cancer foundations in other countries, including Canada, France, Germany, South Africa, Greece and Israel.
In 2014, Maytag brand joined HomeAid America to help supply temporary shelter for homeless families working to get back on their feet. As part of their sponsorship, Maytag brand contributes appliances and funding to HomeAid America, a nonprofit organization that builds and renovates multi-unit shelters for America's temporary homeless families and individuals.
Homes for Our Troops
In 2013, Whirlpool Corporation connected with Homes for Our Troops® to provide appliances and garage accessories for the specially adapted homes they build. It's the right thing to do, and it is our way of expressing our gratitude to those service members who have been severely injured in combat operations serving our country.
